Is a Laser a good idea or a dead giveaway of where you are?
This really bright laser is great to play around with but is it worth carrying in your pack?
As a normal situation having something like this laser would be good if you are hiking and get lost. In the night it can be seen for miles and could easily be spotted by a plane or from ridge to ridge. But be warned if you are not lost and you hit a plane it could be a possible hazard for the plane or you could find yourself with a hefty fine. If you are a gear guru having the 18650 MAH battery and be able to put a spot on the moon this might be the laser for you, but if you're backpacking and ounces lead to pounds and pounds lead to pain you might want to go with a smaller laser maybe one that runs on the same batteries as you're head lamp or other gadgets in your pack.
Now let’s talk zombie apocalypse, first off the dead are not going to pay attention to this light and could be a great way to signal other team members to let them know what’s going on (be a good idea to know Morse code) but you could also be announcing the your location to someone who might not be so friendly.
Pros of a laser is:
Fun to play with when not in a flight pattern
Could be a great way to signal for help if lost or none verbal Que.
Most lasers are affordable
Cons:
Could get into trouble shining it at the wrong place
Lasers have warnings and they may blind people could be a good thing but anyone looking at it not so much
Extra weight that can be argued not necessary

Ideas for Zombie apocalypse communication
Ever think on other ways to communicate to other people during the zombie apocalypse? We have thought of the easy way to mark certain items with black light so this way not the normal eye can see this. Using this technique you can leave messages for people that may be behind in the convoy later or a way to keep you on track at intersections when you leave your area and need to come back. The pros is that other marauders will have a chance to live another day by not seeing the messages and trying to rush up to the barbarian camp were it could be a bad day for them.
